Hi!

I'm glad you found my Home Page.  Here's a little bit about me.

In the 1960's I was a Naval Officer (Lieutenant Commander [sel.], Supply Corps, USN) with assignments both ashore at a shipyard, a supply center, an air station, Navy Headquarters in Washington D.C and afloat as Supply Officer on the Ammunition Ship USS PYRO (AE-24) (Vietnam - Yankee Station - 1967).

In the 1970's I owned Barton's Office Supply with fifteen employees and locations in Whittier and Santa Fe Springs, California.  I was the archetypical small town merchant (Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Uptown Merchants Assn., Y's Men's Club, Indian Guides, JUSA Soccer, etc.).

After selling Barton's Office Supply (just before the advent of the office supply super-stores and the concomitant industry reorganization), I sought after and joined Xerox Corporation.  A twenty-year career of progressive Sales and Marketing assignments including an Executive MBA along the way was capped by my final assignment as Director of Marketing and Planning for the Xerox North  American Dealer Channel.  My work was interesting, challenging and rewarding.  Both parts of my job, marketing and financial/product planning, were fascinating and I moved fluidly between them.  I was responsible for Canada (it's a big country) and the USA (including Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands).  My Marketing Program Managers and Marketing Analysts were terrific... they made my job a joy!  I retired on July 31, 2002.

All three careers have left me with a strong sense of satisfaction.

I've moved nine times and have lived in Whittier, Placentia, Costa Mesa and Concord, California, as well as Bremerton WA, Beeville TX, Athens GA, Alexandria VA and Rochester NY.  Over those years I learned that there's something good about everywhere you live!

After spending a year developing my exit strategy on August 26, 2002, I took the plunge, sold everything, downsized, bought a large motorhome and became a full-time RVer setting out to see the USA.  I wanted to combine my interest in seeing what's new "just around the next corner" with my interest in America's festivals.

I'm single, divorced, and blessed with great children.  My son, Craig, and daughter Kathy Hansen and her husband Ivor (and my grand-daughters Kelly, Megan and Ivy) bring constant pride and joy to my life.

Now that you know something about me, gather up your GPS, your maps and charts, and let's track this journey!
