Campgrounds I Have Used Grading is my own opinion based upon a limited observation and uses the simple grade-school A-F scale.
AL Opelika - Leisure Waterfront RV Camp - Passport America discount RV camp. Fifteen full h/u sites, free wi-fi, no other amenities. (4/07) (C-) AR Texarkana - Flying J Truck Stop - Overnight stop enroute to Texas. Purchased Wi-Fi antenna and software for wireless Internet access. (9/03) (C) AZ Bouse - Bouse Community Park - Bouse is a small desert community on AZ Hwy. 72 between Parker and Quartzsite, former Gen. Patton Desert Training Base. (1/08) (C) AZ Bowie - Mountain View RV Park - Bowie is almost a deserted town with many shuttered buildings, A few inhabitants hang on, including a very cheerful couple who run this somewhat tired but convenient campground for I-10 travelers. Inexpensive (Passport America) full-hookup sites plus free Wi-Fi Internet access! (12/04) (C) AZ Buckeye - Buckeye Hills Recreation Area - About six miles south of the Buckeye intersection with SR85, just past mile marker 144 on west side of SR85, this Maricopa County Rec. Area offers several places to park, next to covered picnic tables, out in the desert. Nice boondocking! (1/08) (C+) AZ Casa Grande - Rovers Roost SKP Co-Op - A membership co-op campground for Escapees clubmembers. Over 100 nice level, paved full hook-up sites, nice activity room, laundry and showers. No swimming pool. (3/05) (B) AZ Chandler - Wild Horse Pass Gila River Indian Casino - Casino camping (boondocking) at RV friendly casino. (12/07) (C) AZ Ehrenberg - 2.5 miles east of Arizona Exit 1 (I-10) - On a mesa out in the desert with a rendezvous of SKP Boondockers, a special interest group of Escapees RV Club. (1/03) (C) AZ Ehrenberg - Colorado River Oasis - A Western Horizons Resort which is also a member of Coast To Coast, this former KOA Kampground has a nice pool and hot tub, some sites backup to the Colorado River, and nice laundry, showers and activity room. Most Wednesday nights there's live entertainment in the activity center. (1/03) (B) AZ Kingman - Flying J Truck Stop - Overnight stop to take advantage of Wi-Fi for Internet connection. (2/05) (C) AZ Lake Havasu City - Lake Havasu RV Resort - A Colorado River Adventures/Coast-To-Coast (C2C) resort with lots of full hook-up sites, two pools, laundry, etc. (2/05) (A-) AZ Mesa - Mesa Regal MH & RV Resort - 2,000+ sites! Another excellent Cal-Am property which is also a Coast To Coast Good Neighbor Park. Tons of activities, everything is sparkling clean, several pools and spas. (3/08) (A) AZ Mesa - Val Vista Village - Over 1,000 nice sites with concrete pads and community layout. Mostly permanent and semi-permanent ("snow birds") residents, this resort is also a Coast To Coast Good Neighbor Park. Heated swimming pools, indoor and outdoor, and computer labs (with broadband connections), activities, etc. (2/03) (A) AZ Mesa - Water Users Campground, Tonto Natl. Forest - One of four campgrounds in the southern part of this Sonoran desert National Forest. Boondocking only (no water, despite the name), no electricity. Level and spacious, though. (2/03) (C) AZ Parker - La Paz County Park - Plenty of campsites, many right along the Colorado River. Very clean and roomy. One of the nicest county campgrounds, yet. (3/03) (B) AZ Peoria - Pleasant Harbor at Lake Pleasant - About 15 miles north of Phoenix off Hwy. 17, this campground has two marinas with boat launches, lots of sites with full hookups and a large dry-camping area. Camp store and storage. (2/03) (C+) AZ Phoenix - Wild Horse Indian Casino - Parked free overnight in huge parking lot joined by a few other RVs and big trucks. "RV Friendly" (11/02) (C) AZ Quartzsite - Hassler's RV Park - Nice Passport America campground with full hook-ups, level paved sites, inexpensive wi-fi and friendly staff. (12/07) (C+) AZ Salome - Desert Palms RV & Golf Resort - Advertises itself as "the nicest RV Park within 100 miles" and it might be! Lovely, pool, spa, adjacent golf course, 300+ nice level paved full-h/u sites, most with concrete pads. W-Fi and the usual amenities. (12/07) (A) AZ Salome - Desert Vista RV Resort - A Coast-To-Coast (C2C) campground located about 60 miles west of Phoenix and 35 miles east of Quartzsite. Salome is a small desert town which was once a stop for the fabled "Camel Corps" just after the Civil War. Desert Vista campers enjoy a nice pool, activity room and clean showers and laundry. (3/03) (B) AZ Tucson - Beaudry RV Park - Next door to Camping World and Beaudry RV dealership. Over 600 beautifully desert landscaped sites with full hookups (20 with individual jacuzzi's!). Two temperature-moderated pools, hot tubs, laundry, showers, telephone connections at all sites and everything is sparkling clean! One of the nicest, yet. (11/02) (A) AZ Vicksburg - 3 Dreamers RV Park - On Hwy. 60, three miles west of Vicksburg junction. Nice small Passport America campground with 37 full hook-up sites, level paved and gravel, free wi-fi. (12/07) (C+) AZ Wickenburg - Constellation Park - A great dry-camping only (no water, no elec., no dump) municipal campground with 35 level sites with fire-rings. On a bluff overlooking Wickenburg two miles outside of town . (12/03) (C+) AZ Yuma - KOFA Ko-Op - Five miles southeast of the Marine Corp Air Station, this is a Co-Op whose owners are members of Escapees RV Club. 157 sites with full hook-ups owned by permanent and semi-permanent residents. Currently vacant sites are rented as well as 12 "dry camping" sites for boondockers. Nice pool, hot tub, laundry. (11/02) (B) AZ Yuma - Yuma County Fairgrounds - Medium-sized county fairgrounds with some water/electric RV sites scattered throughout the grounds. (1/05) (C) AZ Yuma - Paradise Indian Casino - Convenient overnight in the Casino's large parking lot. Tasty food in restaurant. California casino, also, a short walk away. (3/05) (C) CA Acton - Californian RV Resort - 128 full h/u, pull-thru sites. Nice concrete pads with adjacent small lawn areas. This Good Sam Park is alongside Hwy. 14 southwest of Palmdale. Nice amenities. (4/05) (A) CA Aguanga - Sundance Meadows - On Hwy. 79 between Ramona and Temecula, this Coast-To-Coast RV Resort was nearly deserted when I stayed in December 2005. Perhaps it's the three mile-long washboard dirt access road (12/05) (D) CA Anaheim - Anaheim Vacation RV Resort - An older but very nicely maintained resort just 3/4 mile south of Knott's Berry Farm amusement park. Delightful small pool and hot tub. All 220 sites level and paved with nice shade trees. (1/03) (A) CA Auburn - Gold Fair Fairgrounds - Typical county fairgrounds but better developed, more pavement and more shade. Nice. (6/03) (B) CA Bakersfield - Bakersfield Palms RV Resort - A Good Sam park which extends special discounts for Escapee RV Club members. Full h/u, nice pools/shower/laundry area, small store, library. Inexpensive Wi-Fi access. (4/05) (B) CA Beaumont - Cherry Valley Ranch RV Resort - A Western Horizons and Coast-To-Coast RV Resort. Spacious full hookup sites, nice clubhouse, pool and spa. Close, though, to the I-10 interstate highway so lot's of auto noise. (12/04) (B+) CA Blythe - Hidden Beach RV Resort - A nice campground right on the Colorado River complete with boat ramp, small general and marine store and small activity room. Sites are grassy, some with shade and nice and quiet. (1/03) (B) CA Cathedral City - Outdoor RV Resort - A deluxe RV Resort popular with permanents, semi-permanents, snow-birds and transients alike. Over 1200 spaces, four pools, two activity centers, lot's of palm trees. Guarded and gated. Great views of neighboring mountains while enjoying desert climate. (12/02) (A) CA Coarsegold - SKP Park Sierra - An Escapees member park nestled in the High Sierra foothills about 20 miles southwest of the Yosemite Park entrance. 152 sites, full h/u, very clean, very beautiful. Sadly, no sauna or swimming pool. (4/08) (B) CA Dana Point - Doheny State Beach - Level, paved sites (former US Hwy. 1) right on the beach. Nice trees and shrubs added. Crashing surf! (1/03) (B) CA Death Valley - Furnace Creek Ranch - Dry-camping (no hook-ups) in the Overflow section of Sunset Campground. Magnificent weather, endless starry nights. (11/05) (C) 257 level paved sites in the Sunset Campground; no hook-ups, nice clean restrooms. Honor the Golden Age Pass (11/07) (C+) CA Desert Hot Springs - Caliente Springs RV Resort - Another of several RV resorts and campgrounds built in this small desert community to take advantage of the hot mineral water springs, Caliente is the largest and boasts a nine-hole 3-par golf course as well as many permanent facilities. Nice pool areas, laundry rooms, and well paved roads. Over 500 sites, some with modem connections. (12/02) (A-) CA Desert Hot Springs - Catalina Spa & RV Resort - Built around the mineral water hot springs for which the town is named, this Coast-To-Coast (C2C) campground offers 300+ full-hook-up sites, two nice pools each with a tiled hot tub fed continuously with hot mineral water, and scheduled activities. They're delightful! The sites show that the resort is probably over thirty years old with cracked concrete and dirt instead of gravel. Only one modem connection available 9:00AM - 4:00PM. (12/02) (C+) CA Earp - Crossroads BLM Campground - Twelve campsites, dry camping along the Colorado River across from Parker AZ. Delightful resting spot (2/05) (C+) CA Earp - Emerald Cove - This Colorado River Adventures / Coast-To-Coast resort includes over 700 full hook-up sites, two pools, various buildings and is right on the Colorado River across from Parker AZ. Nice facilities. (3/05) (A-) CA El Capitan State Beach - Somewhat primitive State Beach campground with no hook-ups but with paved sites. (4/05) (C-) CA El Centro - Country Life RV Park - Another older campground, not well maintained... this former KOA Kampground is showing its age. Many permanents. (9/05) (C-) CA Gorman - Pyramid Lake RV Resort - When it was brand-new, the grass was green and the campground showed maintenance it might have been appropriately called a "Resort". Not any more. (9/05) (D) CA Grass Valley - Nevada County Fairgrounds - Nice fairgrounds lined with 90' tall pine trees. Plenty of sites both dry-camping and full hook-ups. (6/03) (B) CA Hornbrook - Iron Gate Reservoir - A recreation-area property of Pacific Power & Lighting Corp. This manmade lake has a boat-launch marina and free camping area with water and a sanitary dump, no hook-ups. (6/05) (C) CA Indio - Indian Waters RV Resort - Top-notch RV resort affiliated with both Western Horizons and Coast To Coast. 274 sites, some pull-through, all nicely landscaped with concrete pads. Large pond, pool, hot tub, laundry, activities room, golf nearby, all the amenities. (12/02) (A) CA Indio - Shadow Hills RV Resort - Excellent private resort which is a member of Passport America. Wonderful facilities, pool, spa, activity rooms, etc. AND free Wi-Fi!!! Nice concrete pads, large palm trees for decor and shade. (12/05) (A) CA Isleton - Lighthouse Resort & Marina - Nice grassy campground with attached marina in the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Delta region south of Sacramento. 180+ sites, most with full hook-ups at this aging Coast-To-Coast Resort. Lot's of shade trees, though. (4/05) (B) CA Isleton - Delta Shores RV - Just down Brannon Rd. from Lighthouse Resort & Marina (above), this also is a nice campground with 100+ full hook-up sites, grass, trees and a small office/laundry building. A Coast-To-Coast member park as well. When I visited Apr. 2005 the pool was not heated and the activities room was being remodeled. (4/05) (B-) CA Klamath - Klamath River RV Park - On California's scenic US Hwy 101 coastal drive just south of the Redwoods, this campground is a fairly typical older Coast-To-Coast RV park with full amenities (although no swimming pool), grass sites, gravel roads, and a small area to plug in your laptop ($1 access) in the store/office. (9/05) (C) CA Lakeside - Barona Indian Casino - Nice casino, very small parking lot for just a few RVs. (12/05) (C-) CA Lancaster - Antelope Valley Fairgrounds - Typical fairgrounds; full hookups, inexpensive. Windy region. (4/03) (C) CA Lodi - KOA Campground - I don't stay at KOA's very often (I consider them usually over-priced). This one was nicer-than-average (it was over 100 degrees and I wanted a swimming pool) but, unfortunately, only 50' from two busy railroad train lines! Noisy. (6/03) (D) CA Nevada City - Harmony Ridge RV Resort - A lovely Coast-To-Coast resort fully shaded with tall pines at 3000' altitude. Off Hwy. 20 just north of the famous Hwy. 49 in the Gold Country. 100+ full h/u sites, surprisingly unheated pool, full amenities otherwise. (6/05) (B+) CA Niland - Fountain of Youth Spa and RV Resort - A delightful, large resort near the Salton Sea in the Imperial Valley off Hwy. 111. Two pools with hot-tubs, three mineral springs, laundry, store, library, activity room, full and partial-hookups + dry camping, etc., etc. (12/02) (A-) CA Oceano - Sand & Surf RV Resort - Located on Highway 1 on the Central California coastline this nice RV park sports 232 level green grass sites with full hookups. Regrettably sandwiched between a busy railway and the highway. (10/05) (B+) CA Pismo Beach - Holiday RV Resort - A nice three-blocks-from downtown RV Park with 400+ sites, full h/u, instant telephones, cable, nice showers, swimming pool and hot-tub. Sites are a little narrow. (4/05) (A-) CA Pismo Beach - Pismo Coast Village RV Resort - Lovely RV resort with 400 full hook-up sites, nice pool, store, clubhouse, and cafe. Level, grassy sites with lots of beautiful mature trees. Right on the beach. (10/05) (A) CA Pt. Mugu State Beach & Campground - Nice little campground tucked into Big Sycamore Canyon just off Highway 1 9 miles south of the Naval Air Station. Dump station on-property, sites have running water. (10/05) (C) CA Refugio State Beach - Somewhat primitive State Beach campground with no hook-ups and standing water & weeds. (4/05) (D) CA Ramona - Ramona Canyon RV Resort - A nice Western Horizons/Coast-to-Coast RV Resort. Two-thousand foot elevation, pleasant weather, 128 full h/u sites. Nice pool, lots of shade. (10/05) (A) CA Redding - Brandy Creek RV Camping - Whiskeytown Lake NRA offers low-cost no-hook up level paved RV camping with a dump and water spigot nearby in a wooded setting. About 1100' elevation. (6/05) (C) CA Sunset State Beach - Another primitive State Beach campground with no hook-ups located 1/2 mile inland. (5/03) (C) CA Horse Creek Campground - A nice Army Corps of Engineers (COE) campground. Dry camping, picnic bench and fire ring. Best of all... 50% discount with Golden Age card! (4/08) (C+) CA Trinidad - Redwood Trails RV Campground - This older Coast-To-Coast (C2C) campground has 100+ full hook-up site, nice small store, no swimming pool, and is littered with Elk dung! Not pleasant. (9/05) (D) CA Winterhaven - Pilot Knob RV Park - 8 miles west of Yuma AZ, this Coast-To-Coast (C2C) campground offers 150+ full-hook-up sites, a nice pool and telephone room with four stations for computers. (11/02) (A-) CO Monument - Colorado Heights RV Park - Nice Coast-To-Coast member park, over 200 full h/u sites, nice amenities, lots of shade. 7248' elevation, so cold (23°) on an April evening. (4/06) (A-) CO Seibert - Shady Grove Campground - Well-worn Coast-To-Coast member park, 40 full h/u sites, grass and dirt, not a lot of shade, friendly owners but campground is past its prime (4/06) (C) CT Mashantucket - Foxwoods Resort Casino - Allright, it's not really a campground. In fact it's just a nice large level parking lot for RVs and big rigs at the world's largest casino. Well patrolled by Security. The casino(s) and hotel(s) are magnificent. (4/07) (C) DE Bear - Lums Pond State Park - Lovely state park with 60+ RV campsites on level grass with lot's or trees, paved roads. A few sites have electricity. Nice stop-over spot. (4/07) (B) FL Chipley - Falling Waters State Recreational Area - Nineteen level camping sites with fire rings and electricity. Clean restrooms. (11/02) (C+) FL Florida City - City of Florida City RV Campground - A Coast-To-Coast Good (C2C) Neighbor Park, this is the southernmost RV Campground before driving onto US Hwy. 1 heading south. Not fancy, but level, good hookups, and a good jumping-off spot. (10/02) (C) FL Holt - Rivers Edge RV Resort - Quiet, shaded older Coast-To-Coast (C2C) Good Neighbor Park about 1.8 miles south of I-10. All 100+ sites have full hook-ups and are pull-through. They were not prepared to deal with C2C's new computer-based reservation system. (12/04) (C) FL Key West - Boyd's Campground - The place to camp close (5 mi.) to Key West, Boyd's is a delightful campground with appx. 190 sites, many right on the waterfront. Plenty of palm trees. Docks, boat ramp, marina, and nice swimming pool. Make your reservations at least 60 days in advance in high season. (10/02) (A) FL Kissimmee - Aloha RV Park - Coast-To-Coast (C2C) Good Neighbor Park about 5 miles from Camping World. Small swimming pool, lot's of seasonals. (10/02) (C-) FL Pensacola - Gulf Shores National Seashore, Ft. Pickens Campground - A National Park Service campground right on the beach! (11/02) (A-) FL White Springs - Suwanee Valley Campground - Quiet, well shaded Coast-To-Coast (C2C) park with over 100 sites. Telephone hookups available at most sites! (10/02) (A-) GA Canton - Alatoona Lake Camp Ground - This Army Corps of Engineers campground is one of the nicest I've stayed in. Spotless, private, beautiful lake views. In the midst of a mature forest with tall shade trees. (10/02) (A) GA Unadilla - Southern Trails RV Resort - Off Exit 121 of I-75, nice level RV campground with 190 pull-through sites, many with cable-TV hookups. This is the home club for my Coast-To-Coast membership.(10/02) (B+) ID Kamiah - Lewis Clark Resort - A Passport America and Coast To Coast (C2C) Park in north central Idaho. Set amidst tall shade trees in a beautiful valley with the Clearwater River nearby. Nice little pool, laundry, showers, cabins, modem friendly. No cell phone coverage. (6/03) (A-) IL Casey - Casey KOA Kampground - A delightful "cut above the rest" KOA campground about 1/2 mile north of I-70. Next to a small lake, lots of tall, shade trees, wonderful amenities. A bonus is an excellent RV service department on-site. (6/04) (A) IL Oakwood - Kickapoo State Rec. Area - 2844 acres, astride a wandering river, nearly 200 campsites, most semi-private with surrounding tall, mature shade trees (9/02) (A-) IL Pawnee - Sangchris Lake State Park - A delightfully quiet, green campground right on the shores of the lake. 100+ sites in two campgrounds, all with electricity. Water and dump centrally located. (9/06) (B) IL Pittsfield - Lake Pittsfield City Park - Nice shaded municipal park with approximately 18 RV campsites with electrical hookups (9/03) (C+) IL Utica - Hickory Hollow Campground - New, rustic, small campground with lot's of trees. (8/02) (B-) IN Bean Blossom - Bill Monroe Music Park and Campground - Outside of a small, rural town. Simple campground with shade trees. Also the site of the Bill Monroe Museum and Hall of Fame... well worthwhile if you're into Bluegrass. (9/02) (C) IA Adel - Dallas Co. Fairgrounds - Nicer-than-average county fairgrounds camping. 50+ E/W roomy sites on level grass; quiet, pleasant. (9/06) (C+) IA Altoona - Adventureland RV Park - Large grassy campground with plenty (400+) of full h/u sites, many with tall shade trees. Paved interior roads, three laundry/restroom buildings, for fee Wi-Fi. Nice pool (although unheated) and activities room with snack bar. (7/06) (B+) IA Amana - Amana Colonies RV Park - Nice large (400+ sites), grassy campground similar to many county fairgrounds. No shade trees nor pool but nice campground nonetheless. (6/06) (B+) IA Avoca - Pottawattamie County Fairgrounds - Festival parking. Large, flat grassy field, some electrical hookups (go quickly). (8/02) (C) IA Casey - Casey City Park - Nice little city park with six E sites for RVs. Shade, restrooms, dump station and water in the park. (9/06) (C) IA Council Bluffs - Bluffs Run Casino and RV Park - Concrete, all spaces with elec. & water. Very clean showers and laundry room. (9/02) (C+) IA Davenport - Interstate RV Park - One mile from I-80, 94 sites, level, plenty of pull-throughs, very clean, some trees, nice swimming pool (9/02) (B) IA Des Moines - Cutty's Des Moines Camping Club - A Coast-To-Coast member campground with 50amp, 30amp and Dry Campsites. Pools, laundry, store, etc. Most sites with shade. Regrettably, modem access is limited to 5-minutes! Lots of rules. (8/03) (B-) IA Iowa City - Coralville Dam Recreation Area - West Overlook Campground is a lovely Corps Of Engineers spot with lot's of shade, level pads, grass, fire rings, boat launch ramps and a nearby lake. (6/06) (B+) IA Lamoni - Skip Bluff County Park - Hard to find but worth the effort. About 18 sites, full hook-ups, nice landscaped pads, mostly tall shade trees. Lovely spot. (5/06) (B+) IA Missouri Valley - Harrison County Fairgrounds - Festival parking. Large, flat grassy field, some electrical hookups (go quickly). Lot's of train whistles from nearby tracks. (8/03) (C) IA Tipton - Cedar County Fairgrounds - Nice little fairground. Some electric h/u on power poles and building exteriors. All grassy, some shade, quiet. (6/06) (C+) KS Ellis - City of Ellis Lakeside Campground - Nice city campground with long, wide sites each with water, electricity and a picnic bench. Level, plenty of shade and grass. (4/06) (B) KS Hill City - Graham County Fairgrounds - Typical fairgrounds, a few sites with electricity (some not working), lots of grass. (4/06) (C) KS Louisburg - Rutlader Outpost RV Park - Delightful resort about 45-minutes south of Kansas City. 72 full h/u sites, wi-fi Internet access, Middle Creek Opry Theatre on the grounds. (5/06) (A-) KY Cumberland Falls - Grove Camp Ground, Daniel Boone Natl. Forest - Nice forested campground. Close to historic and beautiful Cumberland Gap. (10/02) (B) LA Abita Springs - Abita Springs Western Horizon RV Resort - Nice Coast-To-Coast member campground. Plenty of sites, full hook-ups, lovely lake, swimming pool, clubhouse, etc. (12/04) (A) LA Newellton - Shiloh's Lake Bruin Resort - Older Coast-To-Coast member campground on the shores of Lake Bruin. 100+ full h/u sites (long hose needed for sanitary dump). Lots of trees, clubhouse, marina, laundry, outdoor pool & spa (closed in winter), free Wi-Fi. (11/06) (C) LA Robert - Jellystone Passport To Leisure - Coast-To-Coast member campground. Level concrete pads, gravel interior roads, unheated swimming pool. Small ponds. One hour north of New Orleans. (11/02) (C) MA Salisbury - Salisbury Beach State Reservation - A 400+ campsite campground 1/4 mile from the beach. Sites have concrete pads with modern electrical h/u and water. (5/07) (B) MD Brunswick - Brunswick Family Campground - A nice municipal campground next to the old B &O Canal offering 65 RV sites with 30amp elec. & water, dump station on-site. Mostly grass (some paved) sites, lots of trees, stately Potomac River alongside. Discount for Escapee's members. (4/07) (B) ME Belfast - Moorings RV Resort - Offering a discount for Escapee Club members, thus is a nice little campground on US Highway 1 right on the coastline. 39 full h/u sites, free wi-fi, onsite restaurant. Gorgeous view. (5/07) (B) ME Poland Spring - Poland Spring Campground - A delightful 147-site campground nestled in a tall pine tree forest on the shores of Lower Range Pond (home to nesting eagles and loons). Most sites have full h/u, fire rings, usual amenities, laundry, store, kayak rentals, solar-heated swimming pool. (5/07) (B+) ME Georgetown Island - Sagadahoc Bay Campground - As it's name implies, this is a campground not a resort or park. It's rustic. About 30 w/e sites right on the bay. Beautiful scenery! free wi-fi. (5/07) (C) MI Christmas - Kewadin Casino - Small and "RV Friendly" casino with 10 sites in their parking lot reserved for RVs (30' or less motorhomes), each with free elec. hookups. (10/07) (C) MN Jordan - Scott County Fairgrounds - Dry camping (no hookups). Picturesque area and site of the Scott-Carver Threshers Festival (8/03) (C) MN Le Sueur - Pleasant Valley Campground - A nice little Passport America campground with full hookups, shade & green grass. Narrow dirt/gravel roads and sites. (4/04) ( B+) VT Marshfield - Groton Road Forest Campground - Nice little (35 site) campground on grassy field. Water/elec. at most sites, dump available. Good overnight spot. (10/07) (C) WA Chinook - Columbia Shores RV Park - An older, small campground with grass sites, gravel roads, water/electric and gray-water-only dump at 57 sites on the east side of Hwy. 101 near the confluence of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean. Clean but minimal facilities; the laundry has been permanently closed.. Coast-To-Coast affiliate. (7/05) (D) WA Long Beach - Pacific Holiday RV Resort - A Coast-To-Coast member campground located just 15 miles north of the Columbia River on the coastline of southwest Washington. Nice little pool, some sites with shade, all with full hook-ups, level paved roads and sites. Unfortunately, no wi-fi nor even a modem connection for Internet and e-mail connectivity! (7/05) (C+) WA Long Beach - Sand Castle RV Park - A delightful, small RV park with 40+ full h/u sites, green grassy grounds and wi-fi connectivity. Very pleasant and helpful owners. 25Ē showers! <g> Walking distance to the beach. (7/05) (B) WI Grantston - Memory Lake Park Campground - A municipal RV and tent campground next to a babbling creek and surrounded with tall shade trees. Very green. 34 sites. Full hookups and fire rings. Mosquitos, though! (10/07) (A) WY Carson Mtn. - Natrona County Public Campground - Dry-camping (no hook-ups) in shady forested grove next to Beartrap Meadow. (7/03) (C) WY Cody - Yellowstone Valley Inn & Campground - A Coast-to-Coast (C2C) and Passport America Park 45 miles east of Yellowstone National Park. Full hook-ups, laundry, showers, restaurant and lounge. No shade nor modem hook-up but friendly staff. (7/03) (C) Mexico, Jalisco, Chimulco - Parque Acuatico - Actually, Chimulco RV & Tent Campground operated by and adjacent to the water theme-park. Large campground, over 200 sites, with lots of shade trees and palms. Full hook-up sites; campers get free admission t and use of the facilities at Parque Acuatico. Many "snow-birds" from Canada make this their winter home. (3/06) (A) Mexico, Jalisco, Tenicatita - Tenacatita RV & Tent Campground - Nice little campground just one block off the beach. About 40 full hook-up sites, lots of shade. (3/06) (C+) Mexico, Nayarit, Aticama - Playa Amor RV Park - Nice campground, 35 full hook-up sites, right on bluff overlooking beach. Several long-term Canadians have chosen this for their winter destination. (3/06) (B+) Mexico, Nayarit, La Peņita de Jaltemba - La Peņita Trailer Park - Great spot, right on the beach about 45 Km north of Puerto Vallarta. Built on a hillside with several bluffs, all offering beach views. 120 sites, most with full hook-ups. For a small fee both wi-fi and cable TV is available. Nice swimming pool. Destination resort for many Canadians. Mexico, Nayarit, Punta Perula - Red Snapper Campground - Another great spot, also right on the beach at Bahia Chamela. Small campground, about 16 spots, with three of three of them on the front row. Delightful adjoining restaurant. Salty water, though. Full hook-ups. (3/06) (B+) Mexico, Sinaloa, Guasave - Mr. Moro Hotel & RV - Church's recommended spot. 80+ full h/u sites, all on or near the beach. Restaurant, palapas, pool. (3/06) (B+) Mexico, Sinaloa, Mazatlan - Playa Escondida RV Park - Large (200+ sites) older campground used frequently by the caravan companies. Full hook-ups, concrete pads, situated in a palm grove, lots of shade. Not well maintained (enough sites without electricity to ensure space between rigs). (3/06) (C) Mexico, Sinaloa, Teacapan - Onac Villas & RV - Just three miles south of Rancho Los Angeles (see below) with a very similar beach. Fewer RV sites (about 10) but with more modern hook-ups and concrete pads. Nice swimming pool for use by the hotel and RV's. Plus, wi-fi in some of the spots! (3/06) (B+) Mexico, Sinaloa, Teacapan - Rancho Los Angeles - About halfway between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallerta. 40+ sites with the front row right on the beach. Full hook-ups but about 25% don't work. Even though it's a somewhat tired campground, nice spot to stop on the coastal route. (3/06) (C) Mexico, Sonora, Guayamas - Hotel Playa de Cortes - A one-night stopover by Escapees Chapter 8 (Mexican Connection) on the way down south with a caravan of 97 rigs. RV park was certainly adequate with full hook-ups, not untypically lost power during the night. Hotel was lovely, nice swimming pool. (2/06) (B) Mexico, Sonora, Puerto Peņasco - Playa Elegante RV Resort - A short 60 mile (100km) drive south on a wide two-lane paved highway (Hwy. 8) from the border crossing at Lukeville AZ. 350 back-in sites with full hook-ups including satellite TV. Wonderful clean restrooms and showers with hot water (4 min. showers = 25 cents US). DSL Internet connections in the Activity Room ($1.00/20 min.)! (11/02) (A) Mexico, Sonora, Puerto Peņasco - Playa Bonita RV Resort - Another large RV Resort popular with Americans. Ditto the comments re: Playa Elegante, above. This campground lacks modem access (no computer room) but does have a nicer, sandier beach and a beautiful hot tub with shade and a cabana. A toss-up between the two! (11/02) (A) |
