Recent commercialization of Y-Chromosome DNA testing (done with a simple cheek swab) is yielding significant information about individual lines (clans) and their Most Current Recent Ancestor (MCRA). Click here, http://www.jamesbarton.org to jump to a genealogy site starting with my fourth-great grandfather James Barton born about 1730. Use your Back button to return here. My own genealogy site showing 4000+ of my known ancestors, descendants and relatives is at www.tribalpages.com. You'll need to use User ID: gary2560 and Password: garysgenes. Maybe we're related! Use your Back button to return here. Also, if you're a Barton researcher (or just want to see what one family organization is doing), go to www.bartondatabase.info and www.bartonsite.org. Finally, if you're interested in seeing what kind of records Family Historians dig for and what information they can gleam from them, click here to enter my Genealogy Documents area. Genealogy is a constant hobby... there's always individual research to conduct. Here, however, are my current special interests:
DNA DNA testing is becoming a powerful new tool to aid genealogists. Briefly, the Y-Chromosome exists only in males (it's the essence of male-ness). Further, it is passed down from father to son virtually unchanged. Thus, when combined with a well-proven pedigree it is possible to ascertain Lines or Clans. This, in turn, is helpful in proving or disproving a supposed relationship. An interesting site is www.ysearch.org as well as www.worldfamilies.net Here's my DNA info: My Genetic Genealogy Paternal Ancestry Signature (Y-Chromosome Test) Results for: Gary Michael Barton From: The Center for Molecular Genealogy, Brigham Young University (BYU), Relative Genetics (RG) and Family Tree DNA (FtDNA) 42 markers
