Two Great Sayings That Guide Me:                        Wikipedia Affiliate Button

    1.    Forever Young!

    2.    I'd Rather Burn Out Than Rust Out!

My Interests:

  • My Kids - My son, Craig Barton, my daughter Kathy Hansen and her husband Ivor, their daughters Kelly, Megan and Ivy.  I'm blessed!

  • Videos - Thanks to the invention of a new technology - video cameras built into cell phones - and the ubiquitous YouTube we have a whole new form of entertainment.  Here's some really neat short videos:

This YouTube video will have you rolling on the floor! Johnny Carson set the bar for late night comedy shows. Every modern host takes their cues from him. But as this clip shows, few have ever matched him.

In this clip, Carson makes a call to the police. And who should pick up but Joe Friday (Jack Webb). In 1968 Los Angeles really was smoggy as the opening.

This YouTube video features one incredible athlete. Carl Joseph was a born athlete. He was captain of his high school football team. He played varsity basketball. He competed in multiple track and field events. And he went on to play college football.

It’s an impressive record. And Joseph did it all on one leg. Joseph was born without his left leg. But you’d have a hard time calling him disabled. He competed side by side with able-bodied athletes.

He sacked quarterbacks. And he dunked basketballs. He even won a district title in track and field. And he did it in High Jump of all events. Joseph has been nominated for induction into the Florida High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

Paul Potts was an unassuming cell phone salesman from Wales. But he had a special hidden dream. He wanted to sing opera.

His big break came on the television show Britain’s Got Talent. It’s a variety show in the vein of American Idol. It even features the famous killjoy, Simon Cowell, as a judge.

In this video, you’ll see his first-round audition. Watch the judges’ faces. They don’t expect much from Potts. But that doesn’t last long. Potts went on to win that season of Britain’s Got Talent. And Sony released his first album in 2007.

This is a band with a very unusual rhythm section playing the wonderful favorite Sweet Georgia Brown.  It would make even the Harlem Globetrotters and     Ray Charles smile!

The rock band Toto had a huge hit with "Africa" in 1982.  Here's an October 2008 rendition by the Slovenian chorus Perpetuum Jazzile.  The initial 1-1/2 minute African Thunderstorm is incredible!

Thanks to Kim Komando for her tip on how to present the above and much of the descriptive text.
